Ozaukee County Traffic Court Records
Everything depends on the issuing agency and the court named on the ticket. An Ozaukee County Sheriff, Wisconsin State Patrol, or Department of Natural Resources officer may have written the citation for circuit court. The file then belongs to the circuit side. The Ozaukee County Clerk of Circuit Court holds it. You can run an Ozaukee County court docket search through Wisconsin Circuit Court Access. Most people call it WCCA. A circuit entry may show the charge or forfeiture. It may also list the plea, court settings, the disposition, and money paid. One limit: the public WCCA view shows no document images.
Citations for Cedarburg, Mequon, or Port Washington ordinances usually go to Mid-Moraine Municipal Court instead. That court's administrative office keeps the municipal case record and posts a shared hearing calendar. A ticket from another local police department should be checked against the address printed on it, since you cannot assume which court it belongs to. Parking works differently again. Cedarburg and Mequon both spell out their parking exceptions.
Ozaukee Traffic Tickets Split Two Ways
A ticket written in Ozaukee County does not always become a circuit case. The court named on the citation controls. Traffic and forfeiture cases in circuit court run through the county clerk and WCCA. The Justice Center hosts them. Participating city ordinance cases run through Mid-Moraine, whose administrative office sits in West Bend. You appear at the city location listed on the citation. The calendar confirms it.
| Issuer or ticket | First official contact |
|---|---|
| County Sheriff, State Patrol, or DNR ticket filed in circuit court | Ozaukee clerk and WCCA |
| Cedarburg, Mequon, or Port Washington municipal citation | Mid-Moraine Municipal Court |
| Other municipal agency | Court and address printed on the citation |
| City parking ticket | Issuing city when a separate route applies |
Looking Up a Traffic Ticket
Keep the ticket in front of you. It names the issuer and the court. The citation number is there too. So are the first date and the response route. For a circuit matter, WCCA may let you search by name, case number, or citation number. Mid-Moraine's public calendar is only a session calendar, not a full case history. Its payment system starts with a "Citation" payment choice. It handles each citation one at a time.
- Read the citation and identify the issuing agency and named court.
- For circuit court, search WCCA and limit the county to Ozaukee.
- For Mid-Moraine, compare the city, date, time, and location on its calendar.
- Call 262-284-8409 for circuit matters or 262-334-5700 for Mid-Moraine.
- If the web route fails, use the proper clerk counter or written request channel.
- Confirm the date and response deadline before paying, pleading, or appearing.
Circuit records are also available at public terminals in Justice Center Room 201. The clerk takes record requests by phone, email, fax, mail, or in person. A city record request goes to Mid-Moraine, not the circuit clerk.
Mid-Moraine Citation Payment Steps
The official Point & Pay link is a payment workflow rather than a municipal docket lookup. You move through Search Your Bills, Select Payments, Review and Submit, and Confirmation and Receipt. Pick "Citation" as the payment type first. The detailed search fields only appear after that choice. Do not assume what they ask for. Note the system's warning that separate citations must be paid one at a time.
Paying online settles only the bill you selected. It does not replace the calendar or the appearance instructions on the citation. Those live on the citation itself. A clerk request for the municipal case record is separate too. If you plan to contest, take the plea route. Payment is not a shortcut.
How to Find Your Traffic Court Date
Begin with the date and time printed on the citation. For a circuit ticket, WCCA and the clerk's CCAP record show scheduled activity, and each Ozaukee circuit judge posts an official weekly calendar link. For a municipal ticket, Mid-Moraine's calendar lists the date, time block, municipality, and appearance location. It does not list parties, charges, or outcomes.
| Citation or case number | Use the ticket number; a circuit case may display a code such as TR or FO. |
|---|---|
| Court | Ozaukee County Circuit Court or Mid-Moraine, as stated. |
| Date and time | Initial appearance or later setting; the newest notice controls. |
| Location | Justice Center or the listed city venue. |
| Status | Plea, pending activity, judgment, payment, default, or disposition. |
Calling the clerk can confirm a setting but cannot change it. A reset may leave the old event in the history, so compare the latest entry against the newest mailed notice.
Three Ozaukee Cities Share a Calendar
Mid-Moraine's administration sits at 321 N. Main Street, Suite 201, West Bend, WI 53095. That address is not necessarily where you appear. Mequon hearings are listed at Mequon City Hall. Cedarburg sessions can take place in the Police Department community room. Port Washington entries may name City Hall or a Safety Building. Trust the citation and the current calendar above all.
The official Mequon plea instructions lay out the shared-court route and the local appearance rule.

Mequon's instructions make the point plainly: the West Bend mailing office and the appearance venue are two different places. Read them separately before you head out.
Pay or Contest a Ticket
Paying a ticket and pleading not guilty create very different court records. On an Ozaukee circuit citation, a guilty or no-contest response can be marked and mailed to the clerk at 1201 S. Spring Street, P.O. Box 994, Port Washington, WI 53074. A not-guilty response must arrive before intake. You can fax it to 262-284-8491, eFile it as a non-party filer, mail it, bring it to Room 201, or simply appear on the citation date.
| Resolve without contest | Contest the citation |
|---|---|
| Guilty or no-contest plea and required payment | Not-guilty plea and a scheduled court process |
| Circuit route: mail the marked form | Circuit route: fax, mail, eFile, counter, or appearance |
| Municipal route: follow city payment instructions | Municipal route: meet the city plea deadline |
A timely circuit not-guilty plea erases the original intake date. The court then sets a mandatory pretrial with the District Attorney and mails notice. If the case stays unresolved, it moves to court trial.
Do not miss the next setting: A missed circuit pretrial can cause default judgment. Municipal failure to act can trigger collection, a warrant, or operating-privilege action when authorized.
Ozaukee City Deadlines Are Different
One deadline does not fit all three cities. Mequon asks that a written not-guilty plea reach Mid-Moraine one day before court. A guilty or no-contest payment must arrive before the citation date. Cedarburg works differently. Its payment or not-guilty form must land five days before the scheduled appearance. Fax 262-334-7771 is published for sending it. Port Washington takes the date and time printed on the citation as the initial date. Plea questions go to Mid-Moraine.
Keep the three rulebooks apart. A Cedarburg “to be set” ticket is its own category as well. Follow the citation and the city's current instructions, and use Mid-Moraine's 262-334-5700 line as the shared contact for status and pleas.
Traffic Court Record vs Driving Record
An Ozaukee County traffic docket and a Wisconsin driving record are two separate files. The court record documents the citation as a court matter. It may show the allegation, plea, hearing dates, disposition, and money due. The Wisconsin DOT keeps the other one. That driver record tracks license status, not the case. The county clerk routes license-reinstatement questions to Wisconsin DOT. The court office does not maintain driver-license eligibility.
| Court traffic record | Wisconsin driver record | |
|---|---|---|
| Custodian | Ozaukee or Mid-Moraine clerk | Wisconsin DOT |
| Shows | Citation, plea, date, result, forfeiture | Reported convictions, points, license status |
| Access | WCCA, court, counter, request | DOT record service |
A missing court result says nothing about a DOT record. A DOT record also will not supply a court motion, plea, or certified judgment.
Reopening an Ozaukee Traffic Judgment
Wisconsin form TR-310 asks the court to reopen a traffic forfeiture matter. It calls for the caption, case number, prior appearance or trial date, and your reason for missing it. Add contact details and the relief you want. Form TR-311 is the matching order. It records timing findings and a grant, a denial, or a hearing option.
A Mid-Moraine trial decision takes another route. Published instructions demand written notice within 20 days. Prosecutor notice is also required to appeal to the Washington/Ozaukee County Circuit Court. A guilty plea, no-contest plea, or default judgment cannot be appealed that way.
The official Mid-Moraine appeal explanation spells out that short period.

That page shows another split. A trial ruling, a paid plea, and a default judgment do not share one next step.
Copies and Fees
The citation sets the fine or forfeiture. Record-copy charges are separate. For a circuit file, have the case number and the exact document in hand before ordering. The clerk takes requests by email, phone, fax, mail, or at Room 201, and a paid name search may apply when no case number exists.
| Item | Published fee | Note |
|---|---|---|
| General court copy | $1.25 per page | Plain circuit copy |
| Certified copy | $5 per document | Clerk authentication |
| Name search | $5 per name | Applies without a case number |
| Occupational-license issuance item | $40 | Forms and review also apply |
Mid-Moraine's primary court page posts no processing-fee total, so confirm the live cost before paying. Municipal copy requests go to Mid-Moraine.
Ozaukee Traffic Record Access Chain
A circuit ticket starts with WCCA. The Room 201 terminal then opens the filed documents in that case. Call 262-284-8409 or the records line at 262-284-8420. Fax 262-284-8491 or mail to the Justice Center. You can also email the published record-request inbox or visit the counter during weekday hours. A plea can use non-party eFiling when county instructions permit it.
A municipal ticket runs through Mid-Moraine. Use its calendar or Point & Pay when resolving the ticket. Phone 262-334-5700, mail, or the West Bend administrative counter also handle records and correspondence. Appear instead at the city venue printed on the citation. These fallbacks matter. Neither WCCA nor the monthly municipal calendar supplies every filed paper or detail.
